Chance encounter at a family funeral leads to a harrowing adventure.
Rehearsals will start in October. Production is expected to start in November 2022.

HENRY HARRIS - Male, mid-20s to early 30's; the product of a small town called Cedar Woods, Henry did well by leaving town and marrying a city girl from a wealthy family. An aspiring filmmaker, resisting pressure to work his father-in-law’s big firm.
KATE HARRIS - Female, mid-20s to early 30's; pretty, polished, poised and near-perfect. Kate was raised - with the help of private schools and all the advantages of a privileged life - to be the ideal wife.
CHARLIE - Female, mid-20s to early 30s; a tough, scrappy young woman who wears pink hair and drives a beat up van. A vet, she suffers from PTSD. She has returned to Cedar Woods to figure out her life.
MICK - Male, mid-20s to mid-30s. A troubled schoolmate of Henry’s and Charlie’s, Mick hails from a long line of unhappy coal miners. He is charismatic and bipolar. Mick’s life took a detour into prison when he was convicted of absconding 50 grand from the mining company in Cedar Woods. After a daring escape from prison, Mick is determined to right some wrongs.
TED - Male, 25 - 55. Born and raised in the Appalachian foothills, he’s a two-time loser ex-con and until recently, Mick’s cell mate, Recently released from prison, Ted wasted no time jumping back into the life. He is under extreme pressure to come up with $50K to pay off his drug supplier.
BUCK - Male, 25 to 55. Ted’s right hand man, but not very good at it. Small town outcast, high school dropout, son of alcoholics. Physically imposing, Buck looks like he might have been a linebacker in the NFL. Unable to control his drinking, Buck is a loose cannon.
UNCLE DON or COUSIN DAWN - Male/Female, 25 to 60. Farmer, veterinarian’s assistant -- the reliable relative. Unmarried, loyal to a fault, hardworking.
LISA - Female, 20s. A childhood playmate of Henry, she blossomed into the hot girl in high school. As a teen she caught on to the power she had over boys and how to wield it. She and Henry dated during his senior year - while she was a sophomore. They broke up while he was away at college. In the interim, she’s grown restless and weary. Now, wary of losing her looks, she’s engaged to the town’s richest bachelor, a drug-dealing bar owner she barely respects. The truth is, she never got over Henry (although she’d never admit it).
GREG - Male, 20 to 35. The want-to-be favorite son, he cares for his mother to the extent his brother ignores her. In fact, he so dotes on his mom, he has no time for other women. He considers himself a man of virtue and religiosity.
MRS. HARRIS - Female, 50 to 70. A woman of mettle who set aside her dreams to
raise a family. Her husband died a decade ago, her mother last week. Her resolve is
waning. She longs for the past, misses her writer son of whom she’s immensely proud.
DOUG - Male, 30 to 50, high school drop out, raised on the wrong side of the tracks. A relentless hustler, he has an aptitude and appetite for making money. Since acquiring most of his wealth dealing drugs, he’s on a mission to garner respect. To that end, he’s converted a local bar into a trendy micro brewery/tavern bearing his name and is engaged to Lisa, the most sought after woman in Cedar Woods.
MAX - Male, 10 to 15. A video savant, Max is tech savvy and a future film auteur. His goal is to create authentic, truthful art - cinema verite. Therefore, he’s oblivious to how his latest work might hurt his sister, Kate. He idolizes his brother-in-law, Henry.
INDIRA - Female, 35 to 80. Formerly destitute, she works for room and board at a homeless shelter and ministers lost souls living on the street. Although she strives to suffers fools gladly, she finds the selfishness of the privileged hard to abide.
ALBERT KRUEGER - Male. 45 to 70. A senior partner at one of the big city’s most successful injury law firms, he’s a self-made millionaire. Charming, and self-possessed, he’s respected even by established members of the old money club. His daughter is his princess. He protects and indulges her as if she’s royalty.
CINDY - Female, 35 to 70. Cindy was the star of her high school choir ensemble -- destined for a career on Broadway or as a frequent performer at the Metropolitan Opera. She dropped out of college to marry Dennis - owner of Cedar Woods Hardware. Whenever possible, she performs in church on Sundays, at wedding and funerals, and reminds whoever will listen of the star she could’ve been.
COUSIN JEFF - Male, 20 to 40. Head-butted by an ornery goat as a child, Jeff dropped out of school at 16 to work on the family farm. Though a little slow, he’s hard-working, cheerful, optimistic and good-natured.
BARBARA - Female, 25 to 60. Misunderstood, long-suffering and single, she lives alone with a houseful of cats and caged hamsters. She clerks for the post office and writes poetry in her spare time.
REVEREND SLOCUM - Male, 30 to 70. A fire and brimstone narcissist, he fancies himself the dividing wall between good and evil in Cedar Woods. Unmarried, he dispenses family/marital advice to his flock - regardless of their interest in receiving his pearls of wisdom. “How lucky the town is to have such a paragon of virtue,” he imagines.
RITA - Female, 9 to 12. A healthy farm girl tween, she’s transitioning from boys are “yuck” to boys are “the stuff of dreams.” Sighting Max, she thinks she’s glimpsed her future husband. Fresh, freckle-faced with pigtails, she straddles childhood and adolescence.
MRS. HUMBOLT - Female, 70 to 90. Still upright and ambulatory after a lifetime of teaching grammar school and caring for her PTSD-addled son (disabled vet), she battles feelings of resentment for her misfortune. Her faith is daily challenged. She was destined to be special. She was, in her day, a good math teacher. Surely, that’s something.
TV SHOW HOST 1 - Male, Female, 50 +; Once a respected major market anchor, he/she aged out and was forced to find work in a small town TV station as a morning show co-host. He/she is accustomed to certain standards and a little put out having to work with a younger, inexperienced partner.
TV SHOW HOST 2 - Female, Male, 20 to 30. County fair beauty contest runner up (or, winner of a small town male model search), he/she, although new to television, is planning to move to Hollywood pronto.
